As the Pre-Treatment Unit Leader, you are accountable and responsible for driving the delivery of high quality and efficient radiotherapy planning/dosimetry and CT simulation across all Centres within your defined 'hub' (i.e. group of responsible Centres including but not limited to Hervey Bay, Bundaberg and Rockhampton). Ideally located in one of the regional departments, however remote work within Queensland would be considered for the right applicant. The expectation is that the successful applicant will travel to all the departments within the hub on a regular basis.
The key focus of the role is to drive and lead high performance in the planning team, whilst building a positive team culture focused on achieving best practice in patient care and completing high-quality planning.
The Pre-Treatment Unit Leader will lead radiation therapists in the planning hub. They will work together with other Pre-Treatment Unit Leaders across Queensland to effectively manage the planning workload of the whole state.
This position will report to the Pre-Treatment Leader of Queensland and will have direct reports, consisting of radiation therapists within their hub.
Key areas for the role:
Clinical Practice
- Provide clinical leadership and supervision to Radiation Therapists in the hub, by sharing clinical expertise and measuring individual performance
- Ensuring correct and safe administration of all Radiation Therapy planning procedures and protocols
- Manage planning workload and lead the efficient provision of radiotherapy planning process within the hub and state by working together with other leaders
Leadership
- Build a high-performance culture in the pre-treatment team, by sourcing talent, developing capability, sharing knowledge and mentoring less experienced planners, and ensuring skills gaps are effectively managed
- Responsible for identifying staff education and training requirements with support from the Pre-Treatment Leader
- Build strong relationships with Doctors, especially Regional Doctors. Extremely important to understand their planning requirements and ensuring they are well supported by the pre-treatment team
Compliance
- Ensure team members are appropriately trained, mandatory training records are kept and reports are available for compliance reporting
- Manage pre-treatment team resources as needed and during times of leave to ensure patient care is not compromised
- Ensure compliance with state Mosaiq QCL workflows
We're interested in hearing from people who have:
- Advanced technical competence in all areas of radiotherapy, including comprehensive knowledge of contemporary radiotherapy planning modalities and techniques
- Knowledge with Treatment Planning System Monaco highly desirable (planning and checking)
- Knowledge with Eclipse, Mosaiq, MIM will be desirable
- Knowledge with Elekta Linear Accelerators, Elekta equipment (BodyFix, Hexapod, iGuide) and XVI imaging system will be desirable
- Advanced leadership capability, specifically the ability to build and maintain a high-performance team culture
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and ability to influence without authority, specifically Doctors and other key stakeholders
- Demonstrated commitment and ability to provide feedback to planning reports
- Demonstrated commitment to innovation and continuous quality improvement including improving automation success and cross border planning
- Flexibility to travel across responsible centres
- Business related knowledge is desirable but not mandatory
- Minimum bachelor's degree as relevant
- Registration as a Radiation Therapist with AHPRA
