Task involves:
· Developing, monitoring an ensuring compliance of quality control procedures at farm and processing facilities to ensure compliance with required standards
· Inspecting plants and agricultural produce to identify product quality issues and ensuring that the quality as set with consultation with farm owners and farm managers are met
· Testing samples of produce for quality, size, taste and chemical residues(especially in regard to withholding periods and lab reports)
· Developing, monitoring, and ensuring compliance of hygiene standards during storage, processing and packing facilities and in transport vehicles
· Developing, monitoring, and ensuring compliance of harvesting and production protocols in consultation with farm managers and farm owners
· Developing, monitoring, and ensuring compliance with packing and loading processes, including the washing, treating and waxing of produce
· Inspect and pass final produce for quality assurance and liaise with buyers on produce specification
· Responsible for upkeep of documentation and maintenance required for audits by food, health, and safety standards for the Australian as well as export market
Essential skills/qualities required:
• A proven record of skills and knowledge in agriculture/horticulture.
• Have considerable experience, fundamental knowledge and skills in farm operation.
• Trustworthy person who can be relied upon.
• Able to analyse and solve problems
• Be a responsible person who can work in a team environment.
• Enthusiastic, professional attitude and understanding of the objectives of the business
