Primary School Teacher (DOTT cover)

Treetops is a small, caring educational community, located in the Perth Hills. Due to growth in student numbers throughout the school, we are now seeking enthusiastic middle and upper years teachers to cover DOTT in our Primary school. The position is part-time and will commence in Term 3, 2024. 

Treetops places great value on educating the individual within a child-centred setting.

The School utilises the Western Australian Curriculum for Years 1 to 6. The applicant will be hardworking and detail-oriented, with excellent knowledge of the subject material and a sound understanding of the Western Australian curriculum. The applicant must be available to start from Term 3 in 2024.

Key Objectives

To carry out the professional duties of a teacher in accordance with the school's policies, under the direction of the Principal. 

Essential Criteria for Candidate

  • Ability to engage and motivate students.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Knowledge of the Western Australian curriculum, together with a contemporary approach to teaching, learning and assessment.
  • Willingness to embrace the ethos of the school, especially respect for the individual, while delivering an innovative and academically-challenging education.
  • Bachelor of Education (Primary) qualification; or relevant Bachelor qualification, together with a Graduate Diploma of Education in Primary Teaching.
  • Current TRBWA registration (or ability to gain registration prior to commencement of employment) and current WWCC.

Desirable Criteria for Candidate

  • Experience in child-centered education and inquiry-based learning.
  • Experience in teaching in middle and upper Primary classes.
  • Experience in multi-age grouping.
  • Ability to create and manage a differentiated curriculum.
  • Open to learning new skills and techniques.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and energetically within a highly differentiated student-centred school culture.

Key Objectives of this Role

To carry out the professional duties of a teacher as circumstances may require and in accordance with the school’s policies under the direction of the Principal. A class teacher is an informed, reflective professional who uses an array of strategies to create positive learning environments, which motivate and challenge all students to become self-regulated, lifelong learners and leaders.

Key Relationships

Reports to the Head of Primary School.

In addition, maintain and develop effective working relationships with students, parents and guardians, School leadership team, Primary school subject teachers, with Secondary school and Administration staff.

Specific Duties of this Role

  • Ensure the successful implementation of a differentiated curriculum in multi-age group classes.
  • Maintain a thorough working knowledge of Treetops by regularly attending staff meetings.
  • Work collaboratively with other teaching staff.
  • Ensure that assessments and student records are kept up to date.
  • Ensure that curriculum requirements are being met and that outcomes are clearly documented.
  • Use the Western Australian Curriculum in planning.
  • Maintain ongoing records of student progress.
  • Document all parent/teacher interviews.
  • Regularly report to parents, in accordance with school guidelines.
  • Attend Professional Development sessions.
  • Work with School Leadership to support the school’s guiding statements/philosophy.
  • Work with a small team of Primary teachers to ensure a vibrant, positive culture of learning.
  • Effectively communicate relevant aspects of programs with members of the Treetops community.
  • Comply with contemporary WHS work practices.
  • Willingness to engage in whole-school events - e.g. camps, concerts, excursions and special programs.

  • Understanding and knowledge of principles and practice of inclusion.
  • Be responsible for continuing compliance with our Child Protection and Reporting policy. All staff are expected to maintain contemporary knowledge and to enact the policy at all times. All staff have a responsibility to raise any concerns they have about Child Protection to the Principal immediately.
