A position has become available for a part-time (0.4 FTE) Primary School Visual Arts Teacher commencing asap.
Erasmus Primary School is an independent, non-denominational, co-educational school of primary education with just over 122 students. Visual Arts Teacher
The Visual Arts Teacher is responsible for developing and delivering the visual art program across all year levels. The Visual Arts Teacher reports to the Deputy Principal and has a close working relationship with the Class Teachers.
Every art lesson begins from a point of stillness, heightening and deepening the experience and the ability to focus wholeheartedly on the task at hand.

Artists are creative thinkers combining the knowledge of materials, tools and methods with a rich imagination or source of inspiration and deep sensitivity.
Visual Art at Erasmus aims to inspire each student with a love of the practice, sharing and observation of visual art. Working with attention and intelligence on tasks using a range of media (e.g. ceramic, pencil, lino prints, mosaics. etc.) and techniques, students experiment and explore, allowing natural creativity to flow. Real objects and works from Great Masters are key, and introduced throughout the curriculum to inspire and strengthen their knowledge and understanding of Art and the order, beauty and glory of the creation. Works of the Great Masters also show artistic skill of the highest order.
The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate:

- Sound teaching and curriculum experience and working knowledge of the Australian Curriculum
- A must - Sound knowledge and practical experience of the Great Masters’ works so as to share, explain and guide students through a process of stillness, enabling the highest quality of skill and creation for all students
- Experience as Visual Arts Teacher at the primary level
- Understanding of contemporary learning and teaching practices

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Develop a strong sense of connection and belonging for each child
- Support each child to master the disciplines of Visual Arts with enthusiasm and creativity.
- Respectfully and carefully support each child to develop self-mastery
- Provide each child with appropriate and meaningful work and feedback to support them in refining their skills.
QUALIFICATIONS and EXPERIENCE
- Current VIT registration
- Bachelor of Education or higher
- At least 5-years’ experience as a qualified teacher
- Experience as a Visual Arts Teacher at the primary level.
- Knowledge and experience of Growth Mindset approach highly regarded.
- Knowledge and experience in working with and teaching skills relevant to the Great Masters works.
