The Education Business Services Directorate is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic individual to fill the role of Principal Consultant - Freedom of Information and Information Disclosure.
As part of the role you will lead, manage and participate in issues as they arise from FOI (Freedom of Information) and legal Information Disclosure activities that impact on government and provide innovative solutions for consideration by the Department. You will coordinate the activities of the FOI functional area including the allocation and coordination of human, financial and physical resources. A review of systems and processes with a view to incorporate efficiencies and reduce administrative overheads into the service is a priority.
As the successful applicant you will be required to deal with all internal review matters received from applicants and external review matters received from the Information Commissioner on behalf of the Department and Ministerial Offices. In addition, you will prepare Contentious Issues Briefing Notes, and responses to Parliamentary Questions on FOI and legal Information Disclosure matters as required.

Your written application will be assessed against the following Selection Criteria:
- Demonstrated extensive understanding of the Freedom of Information Act 1992 and legislation and agreements impacting information access and sharing, including government policy frameworks and current issues applicable to a large and complex organisation.
- Demonstrated extensive experience in the preparation of decisions in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act 1992 and an ability to exercise sound judgement and analyse information from a range of appropriate sources.
- Demonstrated highly developed negotiation skills with experience in liaising with a wide variety of clients and building and maintaining relationships with team members, colleagues, clients and stakeholders.
- Demonstrated highly developed interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills and experience in preparing a wide range of high-level correspondence.
