Digital Strategy Division is led by the QPS Chief Digital Officer. It is a new division within the QPS, with an exciting transformative remit.
The division partners with the frontline to enable and facilitate digital solutions that enhance the Service’s frontline service delivery and maximise opportunities for efficiencies. It has an eye on the future - designing and developing the future data and digital capabilities, seeking out innovative digital solutions and building the future digital landscape.
As part of this role, you will work with the Director Data Strategy, who will be responsible for driving data transformation to revolutionise data and analytics process across the QPS. The Director Data Strategy will also lead the development and operation of a framework that will enable the QPS to explore and maximise opportunities offered by Artificial Intelligence capabilities
This role requires you to contribute and support change in a large complex environment and navigate through ambiguity so sound decisions and driven portfolio outcomes are achieved.
Your Key Accountabilities
The core capability requirements for this role are:
• Support the Director Data Strategy with advice and expertise to develop the QPS's data strategy and roadmap.
• Provide expert advice on Data Architecture and management best practices for implementation within QPS.
• Design business intelligence strategies and reports in response to evolving business needs and engage with stakeholders across the business to develop the vision for the department's use of data.
• Analyse data related business needs with business analysts and technology teams by providing advice on data warehousing methods and approaches, providing effective data analysis strategies for data migration for systems replacement projects.
• Provide assurance over data solutions and make recommendations to ensure compliance with relevant policies, strategies, and industry best practice.
• Work with the QPS's enterprise architects to develop and modify enterprise architecture, providing consultancy and advice to stakeholders when gathering business requirements to provide input into systems replacement and future solution projects.
• Develop, implement, and maintain standards, procedures and documentation associated with database creation, data migration, system development, maintenance, and usage, including the maintenance of reference data, data models and data catalogues.
• Work collaboratively to redesign and establish data governance processes, tools and artefacts which align with the QPS's enterprise architecture.
Role Requirements
Qualification
No formal qualifications are required to be appointed to this Data Architect role. It is expected at this level that candidates will have substantial experience and knowledge in their area of expertise.
A degree in a relevant discipline, such as Information Technology is highly desirable.
Technical/ Operational/ Educational experience
The role will require the following technical capabilities to work effectively in the role: data governance; database modelling and design in relation to analytical and reporting systems; data management; research and analysis; conceptual skills; technical writing; communicates with influence; advanced project management.
