About the Healthcare Quality Intelligence Unit
The Clinical Excellence Division is the focal point for clinical policy development, engagement with the clinical workforce and health research.
As a unit in the Clinical Excellence Division, the Healthcare Quality Intelligence Unit (HQIU) provides analysis to support front line clinical staff to improve the quality of patient care. Our team delivers value to patients and clinicians by using data to provide information about quality of patient care. It is critical that this information is built from a solid data platform.
Your new role
We are seeking enthusiastic and suitably experienced individuals for the roles of Principal Data Scientist and Senior Data Analyst. We have one full-time position available.
As a Principal Data Scientist, you will be responsible for developing data engineering pipelines, applying machine learning, implementing data science models and constructing data visualization products to support Healthcare Quality Intelligence Unit projects. As part of a technical team, you will utilize services and tools such as Snowflake, SQL, Databricks, Python, R and Power BI.
As a Senior Data Analyst, you will be responsible for analyzing complex healthcare datasets and contribute to the design and creation of reports and dashboards which are accessible to WA Health employees and drive key business decisions by providing visibility into key safety and quality indicators and health system trends. You will be responsible for managing the extraction and load pipeline which feeds the data to the reports and dashboards you will create. You will interact with stakeholders to understand their problems and produce data-oriented solutions. As part of a technical team, you will have accessibility to a range of tools such as Snowflake, Power BI, Databricks, Python and R.
Our team works across the full data lifecycle to extract, transform, organise, analyse and visualise data to deliver solutions to our stakeholders. This involves a passion for learning new technologies, and our team has flexibility in the technological stack and languages used. We are looking for someone with experience working on large linked datasets, cloud services, has a passion for data and can apply their technical skills to the role.

The Principal Data Scientist is a recruitment pool to a full time, fixed term or permanent appointment. There is currently one full time permanent equivalent vacancy.
The Senior Data Analyst is recruitment pool for both Permanent and Fixed-Term Full-Time appointments.
If you are successful in a place in the pool, you will be eligible for direct appointment for opportunities equivalent to the skillset and specified level until 30/05/2025.
