About the Role:
WorkPac are currently seeking an experienced Data Scientist to work within the Exploration Technical Knowledge department. This position is a Monday to Friday role based out of the Rio Tinto Belmont office.
Key Responsibilities will include:
Develop Data Science and Machine Learning models using a structured experimental framework to solve key business challenges
Work with SMEs to understand key business problems, the data, and the desired solution
Work with Data Engineers to prepare and format data
Work with Data Engineers to create ML pipelines in AWS for training and inference
Skills & Experience Required:
2-5 yearsâ experience as a Data Scientist in an industry role
Understanding of earth science
Program experience (Python and R)
Experience with cloud service for ML (AWS Sagemaker)
Software development skills
Demonstrated development of Data Science and Machine Learning solutions for business problems
Exposure to a range of Data Science/ML problems including computer vision, NLP or LLMs
Scientific data modeling highly regarded
Relevant tertiary qualification required
Current "C" Class Driver's License
