Overview:
This role provides expert technical support for projects ranging from US$30 million to US$250 million. The successful candidate will work closely with Project Engineers across various stages of port and mine projects, from concept to detailed design and execution.
DUTIES REQUIRED IN THIS ROLE:
- Lead and direct Discipline Engineering at the project study level.
- Add value in areas such as concept development, technical compliance, risk mitigation, value optimization, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure project requirements including schedule, budget, and quality are maintained.
- Provide SME input into Basis of Design (BoD), Process Design Criteria (PDC), and Scopes of Work (SoW).
- Review design deliverables for compliance with statutory requirements and standards.
- Identify and suggest solutions for design performance, quality, constructability, operability, and maintainability issues.
- Contribute to risk reviews, design reviews, and tender submission reviews.
- Support commissioning and construction methodologies and strategies.
- Facilitate the effective handover and transition to Operations.
- Mentor and support the technical development of less experienced engineers.
- Tertiary qualification in Engineering Science, Metallurgical, Chemical, or Mineral Processing Engineering.
- 5 + Experience in project design within consulting, mining, or heavy industry.
- In-depth knowledge of Australian Codes and Design Manuals.
- Proficiency in process engineering across the entire lifecycle.
- Proven experience in iron ore processing plants.
- Strong relationship management and leadership capabilities.
- Demonstrated commercial acumen and technical risk management.
- Ability to critically review designs and work collaboratively with external consultants.
This is an 12 month contract with potential for extension position for a leading mining giant, based in their Perth Head Office, on a generous hourly rate. Working on an attractive Monday to Friday roster with some WFH flexibility, this role reports to the Area Lead Engineer. They will provide line management and project support as required.
