Our mission is to help more people to hear.The OpportunityCochlear has an opportunity for a Principal Electrical Engineer based in our Macquarie Park office in Sydney or remote.The Principal Electrical Engineer actively contribute to the development of innovative and exciting new products which transform the lives of hearing-impaired people everywhere. As well as work on leading-edge technologies to support the growth of Cochlear as a global industry leader in research and innovation to lead change and continuous improvement for Cochlear's engineering processes and practices.Responsibilities include:
- Support Cochlear’s technology development projects and programs so as to allow Cochlear to continue to be a market leader into the future
- Research and investigate new concepts and technologies which enable Cochlear to maintain its place as the technology leader for hearing solutions
- Participate in improving design technology and methodologies ensuring that leading edge technologies are considered in designs
- Drive process and quality improvements
- Identify process engineering and manufacturing improvements and support implementation
- Review competitors IP for hearing solutions and generate IP for Cochlear
- Support resource managers to attract, develop and retain the best team to deliver Cochlear's current and future business objectives.
- Provide technical mentorship, coaching and training to junior engineers to build individual and team capability
- Demonstrate commitment to workplace health and safety through active involvement and implementation of Cochlear's OHS and Injury management procedures
- Bachelor’s degree in electronic engineering
- 8-10 years post-qualification design & development experience
- Detailed understanding of electronic circuits, components, and architectures
- Experience in analogue and digital hardware and system design
- Experience with electrical CAD tools - schematic capture, simulation, and PCB layout.
- Experience in the medical device, automotive or defense industry
- Experience in leading engineering design of large complex medical device product developments
- Software/Firmware development experience (embedded FW, C, Labview etc)
