AIC is developing the Jericho deposit which neighbours our Eloise Copper Mine near Cloncurry in Queensland. Eloise is an underground copper mine with conventional crushing and floatation that makes a high-quality copper concentrate. AIC intends on developing the Jericho deposit via the Jericho underground mine and an expansion of the Eloise processing plant and associated non-processing infrastructure. Eloise and Jericho compliment our portfolio of copper and gold exploration projects in Queensland, South Australia and Western Australia. We see a bright future for copper which will play a critical role in the transition to green energy.
About the Role:
AIC is seeking a Principal- Environment & Approvals to head up the primary and secondary approvals and permitting scope of work for the Jericho Project owners team. The role will report directly to the Jericho Project Manager.
Key duties and responsibilities include:
- Manage and co-ordinate Jericho EA application and Eloise EA amendments by working with specialist consultants and government agencies and overseeing site monitoring and testing requirements in Queensland
- Collaborate with the cross-functional project and site operational teams to integrate environmental considerations for successful project planning, delivery and operational integration
- Organise and co-ordinate environmental monitoring programs
- Provide environmental design considerations and support for mining and infrastructure design. E.g., waste dumps, water storage.
- Manage heritage clearing, monitoring and compliance
- Oversee and ensure contractor environmental performance
- Oversee project waste management and chemical management
- Coordinate water modelling and wet season planning
- Lead stakeholder management and engagement for the project.
The position is offered on a flexible work basis in our Group office in Sydney. Consultants and project specialist professionals are encouraged to apply.
Periods of time in Queensland at the project will be required. When onsite, accommodation is provided onsite at the Eloise Copper Mine 65km from Cloncurry.
About You:
- Autonomous and strategic self-starter with wide breadth of environmental experience in a project or construction setting;
- Bachelor or postgraduate qualification(s) in Environmental Science or Civil Engineering;
- Minimum 5+ years environmental experience on mining or civil projects/operations;
- Demonstrated experience in delivering approvals for mining projects in Queensland (preferred);
- Knowledge of Queensland environmental legislation and regulatory bodies;
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders
- Proficient in MS Office suite
