About The Role
Reporting to the Group Environment Manager, the key purpose of the role is to manage Environmental Approvals and Offsets for NSW projects. This will include but not limited to developing and implementing environmental approval and offset strategies, managing resources required to deliver planned approvals and providing oversight and support as required.
Approvals may relate to exploration works, new projects, operational expansion projects, closure planning or site closure and relinquishment.
Your accountabilities will include:
- Managing technical studies and government approvals processes for identified projects
- Defining approvals processes and schedules
- Identifying and managing approvals risks
- Identifying, scoping and managing required baseline and other environmental studies
- Evaluation of environmental impacts and development of mitigating strategies
- Developing and implementing offset strategies
- Working proactively and effectively with operating sites and project teams
- Developing working relationships with government officials
- Production of high-quality approvals documentation and management plans
About You
To be successful for this role, you will have:
- Degree in Environmental Science or equivalent and demonstrated experience working in a similar role
- In depth understanding of and experience with NSW and Commonwealth environmental policy and legislation
- Demonstrated ability to manage environmental risks, approval schedules, budget and quality of deliverables
- Ability to lead teams, collaborate with technical teams and manage consultants
