The Principal Lead - Research Development and Partnerships within Health and Wellbeing Queensland's (HWQld) Research portfolio plays a key role in leading the strategic development of research engagement initiatives to forge enduring partnerships with organisations from industry, government, non-profit sectors and with local communities.
This position reports to the Director Research and Impact and will be responsible for supporting them in developing and nurturing long term academic partnerships as well as operationally lead and manage components of internal research operations and research grant management.
Working as part of the Research Team, the role has particular responsibility for identifying opportunities for external research partnerships.

Key accountabilities include:
- Develop and strengthen academic and industry partnerships to increase research activity and output within HWQld.
- Identify and leverage research funding and partnership opportunities.
- Provide high level support in the preparation of competitive funding applications, including strategic advice and editorial review of the structure, content, clarity, style and appropriateness of the proposal for the specific funding scheme.
- Engage effectively with portfolios across the organisation to influence planning for other opportunities that arise from major research engagement initiatives.
- Draw on strong sector knowledge to identify, scope and connect academics and prospective partners to plan, shape and develop impact-focused research opportunities.
- Nurture long-term partnerships for innovation and impact in policy and practice across industry, government and not-for-profit enterprises.
- Work collaboratively with academic and professional colleagues to develop and manage new partnership opportunities including contract negotiation and partnership management.
- Lead the Development and implementation of the HWQld Research Governance Framework and associated procedures and processes, in consultation with the Director, Research and Impact.
- Implement and embed research integrity procedures and training within the agency.
- Lead strategic Research Development activities as requested, in coordination with the Director, Research and Impact.
- Actively participate in contemporary human resource practices, including equal employment opportunity, anti-discrimination, occupational Health and safety and ethical behaviour.
- Manage research grants database.
