An exciting new opportunity is available for a property professional to join our Planning and Property team within the Queensland Police Services and be a part of our incredible journey as we expand rapidly with many exciting new vacancies.
As a Principal Leasing Officer, you will be responsible for managing the state-wide commercial leasing portfolio which includes a broad range of property assets including police facilities, office accommodation, housing, training facilities, fleet workshops and warehousing.
You will be given the opportunity to travel to project sites across Queensland and collaborate with internal teams, state agencies and consultants.
The core capability requirements for this role are:
- Lead and manage the state-wide commercial leasing portfolio to support all QPS operations by undertaking:
- negotiation and reviewing of all lease and licence agreements to ensure legal compliance and adequate protection of state assets;
- conducting complex and sensitive negotiations including engaging consultants as required and interpreting their reports;
- ensuring that rental levels are consistent with current market levels, and that rent reviews, lease renewals, lease options are effectively managed;
- representing the department at forums and meetings, consulting with internal and external stakeholders and applying relevant legislation in property dealings to ensure effective management of QPS' commercial leasing portfolio.
- Provide commercial leasing expertise and advice to executive management in relation to relevant legislation and commercial property management.
- Prepare high level correspondence and documentation on a broad range of property management issues, including drafting briefing notes and budget submissions.
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including the Queensland Government Accommodation Office.
- Be a team player, collaborate with colleagues and actively participate in performance conversations to build and support a culture of performance improvement.
- Oversee an effective leasing management system to monitor and report on the portfolio and ensure that appropriate governance processes are implemented and adhered to.
- Provide leadership, coaching and support to direct reports.
Mandatory:
- Possession of a Queensland Driver's Licence.
- Whilst not mandatory, the following qualifications and skills would be highly regarded: experience in leasing and property management and /or relevant qualifications in real estate and property economics.
- You may be required to travel within Queensland to undertake site inspections as required.
