A bit about the role
You will help build prosperous and liveable new communities within Casey’s growth areas through the timely and proper administration of statutory planning; the adoption of a stakeholder management approach to matters under consideration; and demonstrating a culture of facilitation, customer focus and collaborative decision making.
What you’ll deliver
- Provide expert oversight, influence, leadership and mentoring of other staff across Council who contributes to the development approval process.
- Maintain a pro-active interest in professional development activities and encourage the team to participate in development opportunities.
- Project manage and act as the Council delegate for growth area planning applications.
- Prepare planning assessment documentation and reports.
- Prepare appeal and panel submissions and represent Council at the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal and before panel hearings.
- Recommend creative solutions and resolve complex issues by negotiation and mediation, where practical.
What you’ll bring
- Extensive, senior experience in growth area or major projects planning, as a town planner or statutory planner as relevant to the role.
- Degree or Diploma in Town Planning, Urban Studies or Urban Geography.
- Willingness to undergo pre-employment background checks including National Criminal History Check, Working with Children Check & Eligibility to Work check.
- A curious, collaborative, and inclusive community mindset.
- A strong stakeholder management skillset to work collaboratively to achieve shared and desired outcomes.
- A robust and innovative approach to solving complex problems in community building and growth area settings.
- A positive and customer-first attitude which contributes to the culture of Casey's wider statutory planning service.
