A bit about the role
You will help build prosperous and liveable new communities within Casey’s growth areas through the timely and proper administration of statutory planning services, including directly contributing to Council’s Partnerships for a Growing Casey program.
This role will provide leadership through effective staff management; the development of policy & procedures; stakeholder engagement; attainment of service levels and standards; and continuous improvement, for planning and related activities.
What you’ll deliver
- Leadership and development of Principal Planners, Senior Planners, Statutory Planners, and Graduate Planners as direct reports within the Statutory Planning Growth team.
- Provide day to day advice, guidance, and direction to staff, as well as provide formal feedback on performance and assist with individual reviews.
- Maintain a pro-active interest in professional development activities and encourage the team to participate in development opportunities.
- Ensure staff are kept abreast of planning policy and legislative changes as well as all relevant Council policies.
- Project manage and act as the Council delegate for growth area planning applications.
- Administer and determine all planning matters delegated to the position under Council’s Deed of Delegation.
- Process major and complex planning applications and undertake other planning assignments through our Partnerships for a Growing Casey program.
What you’ll bring
- Extensive, senior experience in growth area or major projects planning, as a Town Planner or Statutory Planner as relevant to the role.
- Degree or Diploma in Town Planning, Urban Studies, or Urban Geography.
- Willingness to undergo pre-employment background checks including National Criminal History Check, Working with Children Check & Eligibility to Work check.
- A highly resolved approach to stakeholder and project management, facilitating innovation in meeting beneficial outcomes across key parties.
- A curious, collaborative, and inclusive community mindset.
