The Jacobs Environmental Approvals team deliver complex and technically challenging local and national projects for clients involved in a wide range of infrastructure and development activities, including state and national public utilities, large-scale environmental initiatives, renewable energy projects, transport infrastructure, resources and energy projects and large scale environmental management programs. We are seeking to appoint an experienced Associate or Principal Environmental Planner to our Melbourne based Planning and Environmental Approvals team as we continue to build our national practice. In this role you will be responsible for leading the pursuit and delivery of environmental and planning approvals projects, multi-disciplinary assessment, providing strategic advice to internal and external clients and supporting the Section Leader and Team Leader to mentor and grow our Planning and Environmental Approvals team.

  • Manage projects of appropriate size and complexity including timeframes, budgets, supervision of team members and client interaction.
  • Be responsible for providing strategic advice to internal and external clients.
  • Provide on-the-job training and mentoring to less experienced team members.
  • Continue to develop own technical and functional skills to progressively take on greater responsibilities as experience grows.
  • Take an active role in coaching and training less experienced team members.

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Tertiary qualification in planning, environmental science or other relevant degree is essential
  • Demonstrated success in obtaining planning approvals including planning permit applications and planning scheme amendments
  • Successful experience networking to pursue new opportunities
  • Ability to build high functioning teams
  • Business acumen
  • Project management experience including managing budgets and timelines
  • Coaching and mentoring skills
  • Excellent presentation and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent report writing abilities
