About the role
As part of the Major Project Integration team, the Scheduling and Risk division efficiently manages planning, scheduling, and risk management activities within the Major Projects portfolio. This ensures the provision of vital information, preparation, support, and decision-making influence for QR and our delivery partners. An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Principal Planning Analyst to join the team on a fixed-term 2-year basis. In this role, you will work across various projects within Queensland Rail’s Major Projects Integration area, enhancing your data analysis and reporting skills.
The successful candidate will contribute to forecasting, estimating, and planning capacity for the MPI projects portfolio including the CRR / ETCS project, aligning with Queensland Rail’s vision and strategic direction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct data analysis, present findings in monthly review meetings, and produce reports for various forums.
- Analyse contractor and QR operational readiness performance against planned deliverables, and track deviations.
- Manage reporting tasks by creating schedule reports and program dashboards.
- Ensure reports encompass operational readiness deliverables from both internal and external stakeholders.
- Navigate complexity resulting from various dependencies among stakeholders and system interfaces.

Our ideal candidates will be able to demonstrate the following:
- High level of skill in data analytics, analysing intricate project planning challenges.
- Extensive experience using Power BI, including demonstrated proficiency in system administration and metrics development.
- Proven track record in data analysis, preferably in project planning or related fields.
- Having proficiency in project scheduling tools like Primavera P6 and MSP can be beneficial.
- Familiarity with Tableau visualization software could also prove advantageous.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, oral, and written communication skills.
