The Principal Policy Consultant leads and manages the development and evaluation of strategic policy and programs related to vocational education and training (VET) in Western Australia. The position is responsible for research and analysis, planning, policy development and review. The Principal Policy Consultant uses multiple sources of data and appropriate research methodologies to identify issues and trends within the sector and develop solutions.The Principal Policy Consultant establishes effective relationships with Industry Training Councils and other stakeholders to facilitate industry input to the development of current, relevant and strategic policy advice. The position provides high-level executive support to the State Training Board (STB) to enable it to fulfil its functions under the Vocational Education and Training Act 1996 (VET Act).The STB has a key role in establishing and varying apprenticeships and traineeships in Western Australia. The Principal Policy Consultant manages this process to ensure the STB meets its obligations under the VET Act.As a measure to achieve equality under sections 51, 66R and 66ZP of the Equal Opportunity Act 1984, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, young people (24 years of age and under) and people with disability who meet the requirements of the position may be prioritised for appointment.Employee Benefits
