The Opportunity
We’re looking for a proactive and visionary Strategic Planner to join our Maritime Planning Branch and lead the transformation of waterfront precincts across Western Australia.
Current projects include delivery of precinct master plans to transform and revitalise Fremantle, Hillarys and Exmouth Boat Harbours.
As an experienced and innovative urban planner, you will lead a team planning for new waterfront proposals and revitalisation of existing waterfront precincts through the concept, planning and delivery phases including stakeholder consultations and approvals. You will also manage procurement processes including drafting complex scope of works, contractor assessment and evaluation and manage contracts and consultants’ output to support investigations and maritime planning.
You will be a strategic thinker, directing visionary, long-term approaches which are determined to be financially viable and physically implementable. You will be able to be innovative in this role. You will also have strong communication skills to provide senior representation across a variety of external stakeholders.
Located in the new state-of-the-art offices in Kings Square, Fremantle, you will be close to the Fremantle Markets, café, restaurants, and public transport. 2. A written statement (maximum three (3) pages) addressing only the following selection criteria (SC). Responses should be aligned to the context of this position within the Department of Transport’s Maritime operation:
· (SC2) Extensive experience in advancing development concepts through to a project ready stage including master planning, preliminary design, stakeholder engagement, business case development and project approvals.
· (SC3) Extensive experience in project management including defining, procuring and supervising specialist consultancy contracts to support project development and approval.
· (SC5) Well-developed ability to conduct research and undertake analysis utilising effective problem-solving skills, whilst performing a regulatory role.
