Newport Consulting Engineers is a well-established consulting firm that specialises in providing Structural Engineering design services for small and medium residential, commercial and industrial projects. We are seeking a Principal Structural Engineer to join our team full-time.

Duties in this role will include (but not limited to): -
- Project lead and liaison between clients, junior engineers and draftspersons.
- Subject matter expert and mentor to engineers and draftspersons in conjunction with the General Manager.
- Structural engineering design of reinforced concrete, structural steelwork, timber and masonry.
- Preparation of detailed engineering documentation for compliance with relevant Australian Standards, NCC and Local Authority Requirements.
- Review and certification of drawings prepared by engineering and drafting staff for accuracy, design compliance and intent.
- Undertaking site inspections to ensure construction is in accordance with approved documentation and standards.
- Preparation of fee proposals for new projects.
- Financial responsibility for the delivery of assigned projects.
- Development and maintaining professional relationships, integrity and accountability with all staff, service providers and stakeholders.
To succeed in this role, you will have: -
- At least 10 years Structural Engineering experience.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications.
- RPEQ status.
- A desire to and ability to coach and mentor engineers.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organisational skills and commitment to assisting team members to deliver time sensitive jobs with a quality result under pressure.
- Ability to provide direction and advice as part of a team.
- Excellent knowledge of structural design principles.
