This is an exciting time to join the business and for procurement there is a focus on building a more strategic function whilst delivering a number of key strategies over the next 12 months with an overall focus on value and improvement.
ROLE
The Procurement & Contracts Manager reports directly into the Chief Financial Officer and will be responsible for delivering value to the business through sourcing activities, managing all high value contracts, managing compliance & risk for supply department and managing & developing relationships with key external partners. You will have a direct report supporting you with contract management systems and there will be an opportunity to add an additional head in the next 12 months.
This role will have an initial focus on a number of key sourcing projects which will lead into implementation of a number of improvement activities centred around contract management and supplier relationship management.
Specifically, you will:
- Develop and execute sourcing strategies to deliver best value to the business and ensure best practice management of contracts for capital equipment, products, goods and services, leases and commercial arrangements.
- Identify, implement and maintain a best practice contracts management system to support quality coordination and governance of all product and service contracts, leases and commercial arrangements
- Ensure the Women’s has best practice policies, procedures and guidelines for procurement, tendering and contract management. Develop, improve and implement these as required
- Build strong supplier relationships, specifically with outsourced providers and agencies including Health Purchasing Victoria / HealthShare Victoria
- Build strong internal relationships with all business units to ensure that they are supportive of Procurement
- Drive a culture of probity and integrity to ensure compliance with all procurement and contract statutory requirements, business practice, policies and procedures
- Supervise any administrative staff who may assist with entering data in the electronic contracts management system or with storing/archiving original contracts

Specifically, we are looking for:
- 5+ years experience in a leadership role within Procurement with a focus on sourcing, contracts management and governance
- Category experience across capex and indirects including but not limited to Facilities Maintenance, Building Services, Food Services, Professional Services, Equipment and Software
- Extensive knowledge of the processes for preparing, releasing and assessing public tenders.
- Attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to deal with difficult matters in a professional manner at all times, and to be able to work under pressure when challenging commercial situations arise.
- Excellent negotiation skills, particularly in the areas of dispute resolution and commercial matters.
- Extensive knowledge of, and technical competence with, contract management software.
