Avon Valley Abattoir (Prime Meat Processors Pty Ltd) is currently seeking a Procurement Manager to join their team at Avon Valley Beef
Role Overview: We are seeking a dedicated Procurement Manager to manage the procurement for our multi-species Meat Processing plant in Northam. This role requires effective communication with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the availability of materials that meet production requirements.
Position Responsibilities:
1. Workplace Health and Safety:
- Ensure all safety requirements are strictly followed.
- Report any incidents immediately and complete incident/accident forms.
2. Quality Assurance:
- Maintain Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Hygiene Practices (GHP).
- Ensure all products purchased meet quality standards.
- Address quality concerns by following processes and raising Non-Conformance Reports (NCR) with suppliers.
- Collaborate with QA and Production to develop specifications with suppliers.
3. Supplier Management:
- Communicate market pricing and trends for strategic purchasing.
- Report on buying opportunities for trading and value addition.
- Negotiate pricing and contracts to achieve cost savings.
- Educate suppliers on Avon Valley Beef’s specifications and manage Non Compliance Records.
- Manage supplies and report to stakeholders.
- Provide weekly updates during team meetings.
- Expand the supplier base to mitigate supply risks.
- Supply monthly forecast pricing and 12-month rolling forecasts to finance.
- Manage suppliers’ pricing queries.
- Maintain strong relationships with key supplier personnel.
- Serve as the liaison between suppliers and operational capabilities onsite.
- Ensure regular communication and timely issue resolution with suppliers.
- Manage forecasting for key suppliers to fulfil orders and mitigate risks.
- Provide regular updates on supplier performance.
- Complete forms to set up materials/vendors in systems.
- Request quotes and negotiate lead times, pricing, and delivery schedules.
- Initiate and implement tenders for materials and services.
4. General:
- Actively participate in the Monthly Check-In process.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures.
- Continuously improve the systems and processes that underpin the businesses procurement strategy.
Qualifications and Skills:
- At least 2 years' proven experience in procurement, preferably in the Meat Processing industry.
- Strong understanding of GMP and GHP.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills.
- Ability to analyse market trends and make strategic purchasing decisions.
- Proficiency in records and inventory and procurement management software, systems and processes.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of foreign languages: namely German, Dutch and/or Chinese preferable.
