We are the preferred charging partner for almost all vehicle brands and have deployed more charging stations than any other company in Australia, from one car garages right through to some of the world’s largest EV infrastructure highway projects. The Role

As a Product Designer, you will be joining the Product Team to work with fearless product managers, designers, and researchers who are passionate about solving problems for Electric Vehicle users. You are responsible for building excellent experiences and simplifying complexities that come with Electric vehicle Charging. From developing user flows to facilitating workshops to crafting pixel-perfect designs you will be working to enhance experiences across multiple products and services for both hardware and software solutions. 

Main Duties

User Centric Design

• Understand the unique challenges and needs of electric vehicle users to develop user interfaces that simplify the EV Charging process and enhance the overall user experience.
• Create wireframes, storyboards, user flows, process flows, and site maps specifically for EV charging solutions.
• Build and test prototypes to validate product hypotheses.

Collaboration

• Work as part of a squad with product managers and engineers to ideate and iterate on EV charging solutions.
• Be an active participant in the product discovery process with a focus on delivering customer delight.
• Work with the Customer Research team to incorporate user and stakeholder feedback, technical constraints, and usability findings into design. Paying particular attention to feedback from EV users.

Design Execution

• Execute all visual design stages from concept to final hand-off to engineering. Maintain consistency in visual elements and define behaviour of user interactions in the context of charging solutions.

Other

• Other duties supporting JET Charge Product Design as required by CEO and Head of Product

Performance Metrics

• User Satisfaction: Measured via user surveys, feedback, and usability tests, specifically from EV users.
• Productivity: Success in meeting product design deadlines for EV charging solutions.
• Collaboration Effectiveness: Feedback from product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders.
• Design Quality: Evaluation of the design quality, including aesthetics, usability, and accessibility.
• Product Performance: Impact of design on key product metrics, like charging time, user retention etc.

What are we looking for in our candidates?

• Bachelor’s degree in design, Human-Computer Interaction, or related field.
• Proven experience in product design with a preference for experience with software experiences relating to hardware.
• Domain knowledge in EVs, charging technologies, and related areas is a plus.
• Portfolio demonstrating strong user-centred design capabilities and meticulous attention to detail.
• Experience working in cross-functional teams.
• Knowledge of design software like Sketch, Figma, and Adobe Suite.
• Basic understanding of front-end coding.
• Someone who will model our values and live our culture.

Other Things

This role is the provide parental leave cover to our team. To apply for this role, you need to be an Australian Citizen or a holder of an Australian Residence Visa. The role is a Fixed-Term Contract for 12 months. The role is based in Port Melbourne office, with a hybrid working arrangement.
