The role
A rare and exciting fixed-term opportunity has arisen for a Product Designer – Digital to join the fastest-growing segment of the David Jones business and be at the forefront of its digital evolution.
The role will work as part of the dynamic Digital Experience team to lead the end-to-end design process across a range of digital products, from concept to delivery, ensuring alignment with business objectives and user needs.

This role will suit a customer-centric digital design professional, with a passion for designing innovative and user-centered digital products, with a strong focus on brand-alignment, usability, and seamless functionality. Working in a fast-paced and ever-changing landscape, the successful candidate will thrive in revolutionizing the retail landscape through digital innovation.
This is a fixed-term contract position for up to 15-months.
What does the role involve?
- Create highly functional digital products for responsive web, mobile apps, and other digital interfaces, ensuring a cohesive and engaging user experience that also portrays David Jones brand guidelines
- Plan and conduct usability testing sessions to gather feedback and iteratively improve designs based on user feedback and performance metrics.
- Utilise the current internal design system within all designs and assist UI Designers with additions to design system to ensure consistency and efficiency across all digital touchpoints.
- Develop research strategies and methodologies to gain insights into customer behaviour, preferences.
- Develop detailed wireframes, interactive prototypes, and high-fidelity mock-ups to effectively communicate design concepts and user flows.
- Present designs and concepts effectively to stakeholders, incorporating feedback to refine solutions.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, product managers, marketing, and other stakeholders, to ensure the successful implementation of design solutions.
- Maintain and evolve the brand's visual identity across all digital touchpoints, ensuring consistency and adherence to brand guidelines.
- Stay abreast with the latest design trends, tools, and technologies, and proactively propose innovative ideas to enhance our digital products.
- Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to project timelines and budgets.
Who are we looking for?
The successful candidate who’ll THRIVE in the role will possess the following skills and experience:
- Certification and or degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, User Experience, User Interface Design or related field.
- Experience working in a UX/UI design role, with a strong portfolio showcasing your design expertise and leadership skills.
- Proficiency in Figma and experience in developing and utilizing design systems.
- Solid understanding of user-centered design principles, usability testing methodologies, and information architecture.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to articulate design decisions and rationale effectively.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail, with a passion for creating exceptional user experiences.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
