Job Description
Join the team redefining how the world experiences design.
Hey, g'day, mabuhay, kia ora,你好, hallo, vítejte!
Thanks for stopping by. We know job hunting can be a little time consuming and you're probably keen to find out what's on offer, so we'll get straight to the point.
Where and how you can work
Our flagship campus is in Sydney. We also have a campus in Melbourne and co-working spaces in Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide. But you have choice in where and how you work. That means if you want to do your thing in the office (if you're near one), at home or a bit of both, it's up to you.
What you'd be doing in this role
As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that's all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you'll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.
At the moment this role is focused on:
  • Design beautiful product experiences. You'll empower our users by ensuring they have access to the right information to make their key business decisions with efficiency.
  • Build the best-in-class product experimentation & knowledge sharing experiences. You'll investigate inspiration and motivation for Canvnauts to supercharge their work by getting access to the insights and knowledge they need fast.
  • Strategy & Vision. You'll work closely with the Product Manager, Data Leaders and Engineering Leaders to define and articulate the product strategy and vision for the Insights, Measurement & Experimentation space.
  • Collaborate. You'll work closely with our Insights and Measurement & Experimentation teams, to create a holistic and consistent Experimentation & Knowledge Discovery experience across all touch points.
  • Develop the product features. You'll impact millions of users by ensuring they get the best-performing product experience, and you'll impact every Canvanuat working on the Canva Product but giving them the best tools for experimentation and optimising decisions.
  • Iterate. You'll gather learnings to iterate through the use of research and data-we have a close relationship with our users which enables us to unearth valuable insights to improve their experience
Goals that you'll achieve
  • Upgrade the ease of use of our in house experimentation (A/B testing) platform as it expands and adds new features.
  • Develop the UX for our rollout monitoring aiming to minimise the user impact of our releases
  • Define our new metric-centered product to give leaders a view of drivers and levers of success
  • Operate across teams to redefine the UX of an internal product enabling thousands of engineers to roll their changes gradually.
  • Support our engineering teams to provide a more intuitive journey for internal users to create and analyse data.
You're probably a match if
  • End-to-end Product Design Experience. You've designed and shipped multiple products or features across various platforms.
  • Highly Collaborative Approach. You're happiest when working closely with other Designers, Engineers and Product Managers. You value feedback and brainstorming ideas.
  • Problem-first mindset. You're obsessed with identifying gaps/opportunities and enjoy deeply investigating ambiguous problems.
  • Effective Communication skills. You create clarity through your communication by making complex things simple. You can confidently present your ideas and tell a compelling story to the broader team.
  • Data Fluency. You love using data to evaluate user problems, inform your design solutions and measure success.
  • Pragmatism. You know when to be scrappy to get something delivered, and when to push back to really uncover the root user need
  • Strong engineering literacy. You love working with engineers and solving complex technical problems.
  • Stakeholder Management. You build trust with your teams and know when to bring the right people together to achieve common goals.
  • Experience conducting user research and usability testing. You're skilled in turning the outcomes into data to drive your design solutions.
  • Interaction Design Experience. You're able to use the appropriate prototyping tools to demonstrate how a particular flow or interaction will work
  • You excel in UI Design. You're driven to create strong visual designs that align with brand and design systems.
  • Growth Mindset. You're eager to learn and develop your skills whilst having fun along the way!
About The Group that you'll be joining:
The Data Group is foundational to how Canva teams delight our users and grow our business in order to maintain our market-leading position. Our high-performance team is comprised of backend, frontend, machine learning, and analytics engineers with guidance from sharp Product Managers and Data Scientists. This team works broadly with embedded data specialists, engineering leads, designers, product managers, marketers, and leaders across the business.
As Canva grows past 170 million users, we want to scale how we understand what delights and frustrates the people that use Canva to get their jobs done. We already have a successful experimentation and behavioural analytics platforms. But we have an ambitious vision to help all Canva teams delight their users faster and more confidently. Taking these platforms to the next level will be the initial focus for this role.
We're looking for an experienced Product Designer to drive the evolution of our Rollouts, Experimentation, Analytics, and Metrics Products that will unleash the next wave of Canva's growth. A great candidate is energised at the prospect of accelerating others with data, but knows that strong design and user experience is needed to make that happen.
What's in it for you?
