Product Development Manager

• Parramatta base location – with flexible/hybrid working & site and customer visits required
• Full time permanent role, utilising sales and project management experience
• Develop exciting new products and services for Sydney Water

What will you be doing?The purpose of this role is to deliver Product development projects which contribute to the development, integration and commercialisation and new ways of working to meet our business and customer's needs.

You will develop innovation and development frameworks across Sydney Water to support the business development pipeline.

Your Role Will Involve

• Manage the design and implementation of new product and service projects and initiatives across the project lifecycle, including the scoping of requirements, development of approach, management of process mapping and redesign, documentation of outcomes and management of multiple stakeholders
• Project Manage and deliver complex projects from initiation to post go live
• Will manage project schedules, finances and resources for projects
• Will manage and negotiate contracts with third parties
• Will initiate and manage tenders
• Work within Sydney Water’s operational teams to hand over new services and products
• Define and manage project governance framework and structure including lifecycle stage and decisions
• Work with the Project and Program Managers to identify, evaluate and resolve aggregated portfolio level interdependencies, risks, issues and opportunities.
• Prepare, facilitate, conduct program and project reviews (PIRs) when required to ensure quality and consistency.
• Manage and maintain innovation and development frameworks across Sydney Water to support the business development pipeline
• Sales and negotiating with customers to achieve targets.

Department OverviewInnovation & Product Development (IPD) focuses on research and innovation to improve outcomes for customers along with finding a commercial return through products and services outside of the normal water, wastewater and stormwater areas.

IPD is made up of three areas; Products and Services, Science Research & Innovation, and Pipeline Management.

This role will work on a broad range of projects, such as Energy Efficiency, Net Carbon Zero, Recycled Water, Interim Servicing Options or other commercial projects.

Who are we looking for?

You ideally have an Engineering or Business qualification, experience in a sales environment, project management experience and a keen interest in the environment!

• Minimum degree qualification in a Business, Engineering or Professional discipline.
• Additional relevant tertiary qualification highly desirable e.g. Project Management, Change Management
• 5+ years' experience in delivery and project management of medium to large project
• Knowledge of project management principles, methodologies and tools, ideally within a large organisation
• Sales experience highly desirable
• Water or utilities experience highly desirable
• Demonstrated ability to positively influence and work collaboratively with all levels of an organisation to achieve improved business outcomes
• Excellent relationship and stakeholder engagement skills
• Able to work independently and with a high level of ambiguity
• Results driven and solution focused
• Drivers license
