Product Owner - Fed Govt

One of Australia's leading Federal Government departments are looking to engage an experienced Product Ownerto join the Identity Management System Program team in the Department. The successful Product will be offered a 12 month contract with a 12 month extension option.  

The successful Product Owner will be responsible for, but not limited to:

• Engaging with business stakeholders and providing input into the strategic vision, development, and execution of product roadmaps aligned with program objectives;
• Driving the implementation of modern Product Ownership methodologies, fostering best practices, and upskilling business and cross-functional teams in Product Ownership principles;
• Collaborating closely with stakeholders, including government agencies, technical teams, and business units, to define product requirements, prioritise initiatives, and ensure alignment with organisational goals;
• Conducting research, competitive analysis, and user studies to identify opportunities for product enhancement and innovation;

The successful Product Owner will have experience in the following:

• Proven Experience: Minimum of 4 years in Product Ownership, ideally in the government sector or complex IT programs, showcasing a deep understanding and application of Product Ownership practices and methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum, Lean, SAFe).
• Implementation and Improvement: Evidence of successfully implementing or enhancing Product Ownership practices within complex IT or government settings, including clear examples of overcoming challenges, fostering team collaboration, and contributing to product and team maturity.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills demonstrated by effectively handling conflicting priorities, ensuring alignment and decision-making across diverse groups, and employing strategies to achieve project consensus and goals.
• Leadership and Innovation: A strong record of strategic thinking and innovation within regulated environments, including leading teams through transitions or methodological changes, motivating and upskilling team members, and delivering impactful solutions aligned with program objectives.
