About the Opportunity
Consumer and Business Services is currently seeking applications from suitably qualified and experienced individuals for its Product Safety Officer role.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to consumer protection and the supply of safe products within South Australia. On a daily basis you would be providing Product Safety advice to internal and external stakeholders, conducting inspections of products, and investigating complaints in relation to Product Safety from the public.
You will also play a role in providing advice and education to consumers in relation to Product Safety laws, safety standards and product bans.
We want to hear from you if you have:
- Experience in the provision of effective compliance and monitoring activities in a regulatory environment.
- Experience in interpreting and applying legislation.
- Strong research, analysis and problem-solving skills.
- High level of initiative and judgement under limited direction.
- Experience in appropriately gathering, handling and storing evidence.
- Strong ability to effectively communicate with a broad range of stakeholders verbally and in writing.
- Knowledge of and experience in interpreting international and/or Australian product standards (desirable).
- Knowledge of investigation techniques and laws of evidence (desirable).

Special Conditions for Employment
Employment is dependent upon a National Police Certificate clearance that the AGD finds satisfactory. Successful applicants will be provided further information if an interview is requested. Forms are not to be lodged directly with SA Police (SAPOL) under any circumstances and any fees incurred by applicants in doing so will not be recoverable from the AGD.
Some out of hours work may be required.
Some interstate and intrastate travel may be required.
Must hold a current Australian issued driver’s licence (equivalent to minimum class C)
