Role
The Production Managers role is to direct and co-ordinate all activities associated with the production floor. Reporting into the General Manager, you will be responsible for leading the day to day production team, with a focus on improving processes, systems and OH&S.
The role will also ensure that the shop floor is working towards the set production plan and will be a key cog in the continued development of the businesses LEAN/5S journey. To achieve these aims the Production Managers must work closely with the shop floor team and ensure that they understand their roles and are able to drive the required outcomes as expected by the business.
Key to this role is the following;
- Develop & lead a team of steel fabricators, welders and factory staff.
- To be across all quality requirements.
- To manage health and safety in accordance with company standards by constantly promoting a safe working environment.
- To manage and control production resources (people, machines, materials, equipment) ensuring best utilisation of resources to deliver the agreed production plan.
- To ensure that product is produced in accordance with the company’s product quality & Good Manufacturing Procedures (GMP) and standards.
- To ensure that effective communication processes are in place, e.g. start of shift meetings, morning team meetings, etc.
- To ensure all relevant work instructions are kept up to date and reviewed regularly.
- Must have experience in heavy industrial manufacturing, steel fabrication or welding.
- 3+ year’s experience in a Production Supervisor or Managerial position.
- Experience working with production planning systems ideal.
- A commitment to OH&S and overall site safety.
- Desire to lead a great team in a firm but fair manner to promote good behaviours and results.
