About the role:
The design team, based in Fitzroy, is looking for an experienced knit and crochet worker with an eye for detail and a willingness to learn further skills. This is a 12-month maternity leave fixed contract position with a view to an ongoing role for the right person. The role is approximately 30 hours part-time (negotiable), 5 days a week.
The position involves a mix of customer support to help solve pattern and yarn enquiries plus administrative and creative tasks. If you love to knit and crochet, this unique position is your dream job. We look forward to hearing from you!
Key responsibilities:
- Provide friendly and expert customer service over email and phone.
- Finish hand-made knit and crochet items for photography, e.g: sewing up and crocheting together, knitting bands, adding embellishments, etc.
- Administrative tasks including but not limited to: processing paperwork, organising quotes, maintaining spreadsheets, files, book archive and production schedules, preparation of presentations and communication documents.
- Support designer and pattern writers as required, e.g: producing test swatches.
- Maintain relationships with external workers via phone calls and weekly preparation of payments for piece work.
- Handling postal packages for external workers and frequently dropping parcels to the post office (a short distance away).
- Following direction from designers to manage and create content for daily social media posts on Facebook and Instagram.
- Assisting at photoshoots with a variety of tasks such as steaming garments, organising catering, greeting and liaising with adult and child models and their families.
The successful candidate will possess:
- A proven ability to knit and crochet by hand.
- Friendly and patient phone manner with an eagerness to assist and help solve problems.
- Experience with finishing techniques and/or ability to learn new skills.
- Intermediate skills in MS Office suite including Word and Excel.
- Knowledge of Adobe Suite would be an advantage but is not essential.
- Excellent organisation and communication skills (written and verbal).
- A sense of pride in your work with a professional approach.
- Work well in a small team environment, multi-tasking and meeting tight deadlines.
