mecwacare are seeking an experienced Program Assistant to deliver the full range of client centered services to ensure a healthy and safe environment for our clients in our Malvern East centre.  Program Assistants are responsible for the provision of quality, flexible centre-based and community-based day activities for people who are frail, aged or have a disability. The role alternates across groups from time to time.
 
What you bring: 

• Available 22.5 hours per week/ 2 days a week
• Sound and proven experience working with people with disabilities and aging individuals from diverse backgrounds.
• Experience working with people with behaviours of concern and developing strategies to gain best outcomes for all.
• An ability to write plans for programs and activities and work within budgets.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for networking with clients, families and the community sector.
• An understanding or desire to learn the principles of person-centred planning and experience in transforming plans into actions.
• Understanding of Disability Act 2006 and Quality Framework for Disability Services.
• Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office suite.
• Current First Aid level 2.
• Full Victorian Driver’s License.
• Ability, confidence or willingness to learn driving a 12-seater bus.

Desirable:

• Experience in working within older adults in a community-based setting.
• NDIS screening check clearance.
• Aged care qualification
• HLTFS207C ‘Follow Basic Food Safety Practices’..
