Increasingly, governments and businesses are recognising that protecting and restoring natural ecosystems and sustainably managing our working lands is fundamental to delivering a net-zero pathway alongside rapid decarbonization. However, at present our market-based system does not assign a value to the myriad ways that nature provides for humans by supplying clean air and water, mitigating flood risk, and more. Not fully valuing nature in decision making is a major impediment to achieving both climate and nature related goals.
In this role you will lead the delivery of a high impact, multi-year program that seeks to address this challenge and better integrate and make visible the value of nature in decision making. The Natural Capital Investment Initiative seeks to address a powerful enabler in sustainable finance with the potential to drive sustainable land practices.
You will use your leadership and people management skills, alongside your extensive networks and relentless focus on impact, to drive the delivery of the Natural Capital Investment Initiative within the Food, Land and Ocean team. You will work with major stakeholders in industry and government to co-design and pilot innovative incentive programs for measuring natural capital on the ground.
The position is highly collaborative, and works directly with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders across business, government and academia to deliver program impact. You will lead and develop a highly-trained, motivated and efficient program team, with a focus on supporting and empowering others to lead day-to-day project management and delivery.
