About the Role:

The Program Leader Electrical position provides educational leadership to staff and students across the Electrical department programs, and support the operational activities for delivery lifecycle. This includes quality assurance, student and staff issues, student progress, staff and student recruitment, teacher management and program financial management.

Duties:
  • Coordinate courses relevant to the department as delegated by the Manager.
  • Ensure all training and assessment delivered is aligned to the relevant Training and Assessment Strategy.
  • Roster and allocate duties and teaching rosters fairly across the department and manage teacher absences.
  • Conduct performance discussions and annual reviews for Lead Teachers and teaching staff.
  • Provide educational leadership at a high level for staff and students within the programs on educational related matters to develop a high performing and engaged team.
  • Adhere to, monitor and report on performance against allocated budgets.
  • Identify and develop requirements for a professional development plan for Lead teachers and teachers in line with the future needs of the department.
  • Identify staffing needs and participate in recruitment activities as required.
  • Coordinate and lead the student selection and assessment in conjunction with lead teachers of programs.
  • Coordinate, run and participate in department meetings and industry meetings as required.
  • Manage student grievances where applicable.

Skills and Experience Required: 
  • A degree or diploma relevant to the courses offered within the department.
  • A Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, or higher qualification in adult learning.
  • 5 years' experience working within the relevant industry.
  • A current Working with Children Check (Employee) and Police Check.
  • Demonstrated capacity to effectively lead and manage a team of staff in the design, implementation and evaluation of innovative teaching materials, products and services.
  • Evidence of the ability to lead and manage teaching staff.
  • Demonstrated effective organisational skills in the planning, development, implementation, operation and review of programs to achieve a quality-learning environment for students and staff.
  • A sound knowledge and understanding of the vocational education and training sector, and of the training requirements of relevant industries.
  • Demonstrated highly developed interpersonal communication, leadership, negotiating and educational counselling skills that will enable success with students, industry clients, peers and management.
  • Knowledge of current issues in vocational education and training, particularly as they relate to the areas taught within the program area (desirable).
  • Knowledge of Learning Management Systems and the ability to support the team to develop curriculum (desirable).
