The Queensland Police Service (QPS) Emergency Management & Coordination Command (EMCC) supports locally led and safe, resilient communities throughout Queensland.
The Command is focused on enhancing whole of government capability and delivering state level support to disaster operations based on the requirements of the Queensland Disaster Management Arrangements (QDMA).
The core capability requirements for this role are:
- Contribute to the design development, implementation, monitoring, review and continuous improvement of disaster management doctrine and guidelines in accordance with requirements.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to support and facilitate consultation on the development, review and implementation of doctrine and guidelines which meet sector and government requirements.
- Prepare reports, briefs, submissions, and other correspondence on issues and initiatives relating to disaster management doctrine and guidelines in accordance with requirements.
- Research and undertake environmental scanning of internal and external factors which may influence disaster doctrine and guidelines and provide input towards continuous improvement activities.
- Assist with the development, implementation, and maintenance of strategic projects and online content as required, including monitoring project deliverables to ensure quality business outcomes.
- Promote and support teamwork approach to the achievement of outcomes, and ensure the effective delivery of services in an efficient and timely manner.

Technical/ Operational/ Educational experience:
- Knowledge, experience, or qualifications in doctrine and guidelines related area(s), and/or disaster management will be highly regarded.
Other:
- Capacity to participate in an out-of-hours on-call roster and support operational duties during emergency and disaster operations.
- Capacity to support operational duties during disaster events. This may require work outside of normal hours (e.g. night shift), including weekends, working extended hours and may include deployment to other parts of the State.
