ABOUT THE ROLE

Thiess are seeking an experienced Project Accountant for a permanent employment opportunity working on our Caval Ridge coal mining project, located 6km from Moranbah.

In this role, you will report to the Finance & Administration Manager where you will provide professional advice and support to the project regarding its financial accountability and controls whilst ensuring financial performance targets are achieved.

Working a 9 day fortnight, your duties will include:

  • Ensure timely completion of EOM deliverables and reports
  • Facilitate monthly cost reviews including analysis of key variances to budget
  • A key contributor to cost build-ups for the annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes
  • Drive financial awareness across the site and ensure financial practices are in line with company policy
  • Ensure financial risks are identified at an early stage
  • Communicating effectively with internal and external key personnel and stakeholders

  • CPA or CA qualified (or in progress)
  • Relevant years of post-qualification experience - mining or heavy industry experience would be highly regarded
  • Previous JDE experience highly regarded but not essential
  • Proficient in MS Office, strong emphasis on Excel
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills with high attention to detail
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and multi-task as required
  • Drive safety, culture, and productivity in a team environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate and influence across the site
