Base Salary from $83,384 + 17% superannuation

The NSW Brain Tissue Resource Centre (BTRC) is a specialised research facility located in the Charles Perkins Centre. The primary aim of the BTRC is to collect and store human post-mortem brain tissue that has been clinically and pathologically characterised to facilitate a wide range of research into neurological and psychiatric disorders, including alcohol addiction.
The Project and Administration Officer will play a key role in supporting the BTRC and the associated brain donor program, Using our Brains. This is an established donor program that is looking to launch a next stage recruitment drive to the wider community including those with alcohol addiction, diseases of ageing, as well those who are ageing well. The role also involves working with our stakeholders such as funeral and transport services, local health and pathology services to facilitate brain donation. The role involves the successful execution of strategic, proactive, multi-faceted communication approaches to impart knowledge, build and extend effective channels of communication and leverage collaborations across sectors to improve outcomes for affected Australians.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
promote Using our Brains donor program to the general public, advocacy groups, clinicians and local health authorities
provide project management support for the Using our Brains donor program, including enrolment and characterisation of brain donors.
manage project data and supports analysis and development of reports
build relationships and manages communications with BTRC stakeholders
undertakes ad-hoc research projects and support other activities.
About you
a health or science-related background with an interest in research
fantastic interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with sound negotiating and conflict resolution skills and a demonstrated level of tact and discretion in dealing with often sensitive matters
an understanding of ethical and privacy requirements of health-related research
excellent administrative skills, coupled with a general understanding of the project life cycle, project documentation, project standards and methodologies
strong analytical and problem solving skills
experience in data management and maintenance
proven ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
a valid driver’s license
a background in neuropsychiatric or neurological research or clinical practice is desirable but not essential.
