The Project Controls Manager will establish and maintain comprehensive Project Controls systems that enable effective monitoring, analysis, and management of project performance metrics. The role will implement robust processes and advanced tools to generate accurate and timely insights into project progress, budget adherence, schedule compliance, and risk exposure.
Although the role is Brisbane-based, regular local and international travel will be necessary.
Reporting to the Executive General Manager – Processing & Projects, the key responsibilities of this role include:
- Facilitate data-driven decision-making, enhance communication among project stakeholders, and optimize resource allocation to ensure successful project delivery.
- Establish a comprehensive framework for Project Controls that aligns with organisational goals and project objectives. This involves defining processes, procedures, and guidelines for project planning, monitoring, and reporting.
- Manage project budgets by developing budget forecasts, tracking expenditures, and identifying variances. Implementing cost control measures to ensure projects are executed within approved budgets.
- Develop project schedules, including critical path analysis, milestone tracking, and resource allocation. Monitoring schedule performance and identifying opportunities to optimize project timelines.
- Implement risk management processes to identify, assess, and mitigate project risks. Utilise risk analysis techniques to quantify risks and develop risk response strategies.
- Implement systems and tools to monitor project performance against key performance indicators (KPIs) and benchmarks.
- Analyse project data to identify trends, issues, and areas for improvement.
- Manage changes to project scope, schedule, and budget by assessing impacts, obtain approvals, and implementing change control processes ensuring changes are properly documented and communicated to stakeholders.
- Establish document control processes to manage project documentation, including contracts, plans, specifications, and reports. Ensuring version control, accessibility, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Facilitate communication among project teams, stakeholders, and senior management by providing regular updates on project status, performance, and risks. Developing and delivering comprehensive project reports and presentations.
- Identify opportunities to enhance Project Controls processes and tools through continuous improvement initiatives. Incorporating lessons learned from previous projects to optimise future project execution.
- Provide training and support to project teams on Project Controls processes, tools, and best practices. Fostering a culture of accountability and excellence in project management.
To succeed in this role, you should be a highly experience engineering professional who is self-motivated and able to work efficiently and collaboratively in a team environment holding the following qualifications and experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Business Administration, or a related field. Advanced degree (Master's or MBA) is preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in Project Controls, project management, or related field.
- Proven track record of successfully managing Project Controls functions for large-scale construction, engineering, or infrastructure projects.
- Proven Experience with Project Controls software and tools (e.g., Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, Earned Value Management systems).
- Familiarity with industry standards and best practices in Project Controls, including cost estimating, scheduling, risk management, and change management.
- Experience leading cross-functional project teams and collaborating with stakeholders at all levels.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
