Snowy 2.0 is Australia's largest committed renewable energy project. This nation-building project will provide on-demand energy and large-scale storage for many generations to come.
Based in our Cooma NSW office, an exciting opportunity exists within this project for a suitably qualified and experienced Project Design Engineer – Civil, to assist with civil/structural engineering aspects of the Snowy 2.0 project including design reviews, design calculations, drawings, specifications and construction phase technical support.
Key accountabilities will include but not be limited to:
Conduct design reviews of the Contractor's submissions and provide input to the Lead Engineer for the final review of the design package.
Design coordination with the Contractor and other consultants under the overall direction of the Lead Engineer
Provide technical assistance in site clarifications, request for information and design verifications on-site, under the direction of the Lead Engineer
Provide technical assistance in development of workable site-base solutions to civil/structural design issues and provide comments/mark-ups on drawings, under the supervision of the Lead Engineer
Perform site visits/inspections, as needed
Maintain the highest standard of health and safety performance; implementing safety plans, exhibiting behaviours consistent with the Snowy Hydro Values, leading by example with colleagues, team members; and acting as an engaged active client in accordance with SHL Health & Safety policies.
In addition to the above, our ideal applicant will be able to demonstrate:
Tertiary qualification in civil/structural engineering discipline
5-10 years' experience in a similar role in fields of civil/structural design, civil construction, and underground works
Proficient using 3D and 2D viewing softwares such as Revizto, NavisWorks, Autocad/Revit or equivalent software
Knowledge of hydropower, power generation and distribution; construction and commissioning activities, would be advantageous
Ability to work effectively in small to large multi-disciplinary teams and share and transfer knowledge within teams
Excellent verbal and written communications skills, including the ability to convey information and ideas to individuals and groups
