Working closely with the Asset Planning & Delivery Team your skills and knowledge will see you provide high quality, Civil Infrastructure design and drafting services for the City’s wide-ranging projects. About this Opportunity
This is a fantastic opportunity working in one of the most exciting and dynamic regions of Perth. The position is responsible for providing professional design and drafting services for roads, intersections, drainage and minor landscape projects. With an ability to build strong working relationships both internally and externally, you will provide advice and make recommendations on design matters, respond to queries and deliver quality outcomes in a timely manner.
About You
You will be experienced and skilled in the following:
- Experience in undertaking road, landscape and drainage design (including safety in design), cost estimation and specification/price schedule preparation.
- Sound knowledge of Australian Standards, Main Roads WA Design Standards and Austroads Guidelines relating to road, landscape and drainage design.
- Knowledge of basic landscape design practices.
- Presentation of accurate and effective design drafting of construction plans in a time efficient manner.
- Maintenance of electronic project folders, registers and implementation of document version control.
- Highly developed communication, negotiation, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to foster and maintain open and clear communications between internal and external stakeholders as required.
- A sound level of understanding the broad functions of Local Government.
- Advanced computer literacy in specialised graphic and design software including AutoCAD, Civil 3D and/or Civil Site Design along with Drains Software and MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher).
- The ability to produce good quality and accurate presentation of advice, both verbally and written, via all standard forms of business communication (including email, memo, letters, reports; procedures; and the development and delivery of visual presentations).
Selection Criteria
- Experience in designing Roads or Civil structures
- Experience in undertaking road, drainage design and minor landscape (including safety in design) and specification/price schedule preparation.
- Experience in the preparation of cost estimation/quotation.
- Sound knowledge of Australian Standards, Main Roads WA Design Standards and Austroads Guidelines relating to road, landscape and drainage design.
- Advanced computer literacy in specialised graphic and design software including AutoCAD, Civil 3D and/or Civil Site Design along with Drains Software and MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher).

Hours of Work
This is a permanent full-time position working Monday to Friday, 75 hours per fortnight.
About the Benefits
This position is being offered on a salary of Level 6/7 being $86,042 - $100,441 per annum plus superannuation. Other inclusions are annual increments, annual salary increases, a generous superannuation co-contribution scheme and 22 days annual leave which attracts 17.5% loading. We also offer flexible work arrangements or the option for a rostered day off fortnightly or monthly.
