Form of workSydney Water is a state-owned corporation providing essential potable drinking water, wastewater and stormwater services to Greater Metropolitan Sydney, Illawarra, and Blue Mountains regions. As Australia’s largest water utility, the business will service another two million people by 2050. To enable this growth, Sydney Water will invest $34 billion over the next decade to renew existing assets, deliver new investments in water supply, recycled water, stormwater, and waterway management, as well as renewable sources of energy.
In the context of a multi-million-dollar projects portfolio, the Project Director – Program Delivery manages a complex set of value adding capital and major maintenance projects, on a timely basis, to Sydney Water’s customers. When packaged up, these projects are likely to amount to $500m. Reporting to the Head of Program Delivery, the role leads a team of approximately twenty staff. A key deliverable is ensuring effective program management is established to support the “cradle to grave” delivery of strategic, critical projects and programs. Crucial external stakeholders in this process will include state government departments and agencies, the development industry and communities within the Greater Sydney Region.
Your substantial program management experience over ten plus years in the infrastructure/utilities sector includes managing high project volume and de-risking project delivery. Making sure the appropriate frameworks are in place, improving and uplifting program management frameworks, the leadership of program performance and building team capability are key success factors for this role. Excellent stakeholder management skills are a key role requirement, as is the right to work in Australia and relevant tertiary qualifications such as engineering, construction management and/or commerce.
