Job description:
Project Editor, VPS4
  • Opportunity to create a more accountable and transparent public sector
  • Generate impact and create better lives for Victorians
  • Permanent, ongoing role available
  • Extraordinary flexible working arrangements through our ‘Better Normal Principles'.
What we do

The Victorian Auditor-General's Office (VAGO) is part of Victoria's integrity system. We conduct audits and reviews to ensure that public sector entities are transparent and accountable to the Victorian Parliament and the communities they serve.

The Parliamentary Reports and Services Division of VAGO conducts audits and reviews of public sector entities for and on behalf of Parliament. Our people are committed to informing Parliament and the community about the performance of the public sector and how to improve public services.

There are around 70 staff in the Division, bringing together the areas of strategic audit planning, performance audit, data science, and communications and publishing.

Who we are looking for

We have an opportunity within our Parliamentary Reports and Services (PRS) division for a talented Project Editor.

Project Editors use their expert knowledge of plain English, grammar and punctuation, and information design to support our engagement teams to produce impactful, engaging reports and digital content.

Our Project Editors are nimble, collaborative problem-solvers who expertly move content through each stage of the publishing process. They recognise clear, concise, well-written and grammatically correct content when they see it and know how to coach others to produce it. They are able to adapt to shifting priorities when working in demanding environments during peak publishing times.

You can work flexibly from home or any other location in Australia, and we provide you with a comprehensive best-practice office set-up for your home. When you work in the office at 35 Collins St, you'll find an energy-efficient space in a city centre location with great views, activity-based working zones, secure bike storage, change rooms, lockers and easy access to transport and parking.

Part-time and job share arrangements will be considered.

Selection criteria
  1. Proven ability to efficiently, and to a high level of accuracy, edit documents, sometimes highly technical and complex in nature and use writing best practice such as plain English and clear communication techniques.
  2. Excellent customer service skills with appropriate sense of urgency and sensitivity to business needs.
  3. Ability to quickly assimilate new concepts and information, and provide reasoned, sound and accurate advice. Comfortable working in an environment where findings, judgements and products are subject to vigorous scrutiny and challenge.
  4. Highly developed interpersonal and collaboration skills, with an ability to establish and maintain relationships with people at all levels.
  5. Cooperates and works well with others in pursuit of team goals, collaborates and shares information, shows consideration, concern and respect for others' feelings and ideas, accommodates and works well with the different working styles of others.
  6. Is committed to own development and takes responsibility for own actions.
