Project Engineer - Clean Utilities
The Opportunity
We are seeking a Project Engineer to join our global biomedical client in their Utilities department. The role is to support the development and implementation of new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility here in Melbourne. (Victoria, Australia).
The Role
Based on site, this full-time role is reporting to the Clean Utilities Lead. The Project Engineer is responsible for the installation, commissioning and qualification of GMP and non-GMP plants and systems, particularly related to gases, clean steam, condensate, effluent and water systems.
There will be a shutdown in August, typically for 6 weeks. This is an intense period of work. Normally requires longer hours, weekends etc, to achieve installation/commissioning of equipment.
Equipment – mechanical, ie, pumps, tanks, valves, pipes, instruments – lots of small pieces of equipment; MF plant (micro filtrated water)
The individual will be responsible for;
- Performing engineering design evaluations and resolves on-site issues during construction.
-Oversees construction activities while maintaining environmental, health and safety standards using a permit-to-work system.
-Liaises directly with internal and external stakeholders including suppliers, vendors, contractors, QA/QC, Operations and Management.
-Responsible for design, development, implementation, and analysis of technical products and systems.
-May develop a range of products. Recommends alterations to development and design to improve quality of products and/or procedures.
-Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
This role will work under immediate supervision in a team of 5 and typically reports to a
supervisor or manager.
Skills and Experience
The successful candidate will have the following skills & experience:
- Tertiary qualifications in Engineering
- 2-4 years Engineering experience – mechanical, chemical or process
- Experience managing contractors performing activities in a construction site
- Has experience of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within pharmaceutical and/or food and beverage industry
- Has experience preparing, organising, executing and reviewing technical documentation including engineering documents, reports, protocols and drawings.
- GMP experience
- Commissioning and Qualification of GMP and non-GMP systems
- Installation and commissioning of Clean Utilities systems (gases, clean steam, water)
