Primary Location
Service Stream’s Utilities division are currently seeking a Project Engineer – Water Renewals to join our growing Reliability Team in Victoria. The Project Engineer will manage our Water Renewal projects with our current clients including Yarra Valley Water, South East Water and South Gippsland Water.

Reporting Line: Project Manager / Program Manager
Key Responsibilities
The Project Engineer takes personal ownership of projects or packages of work allocated to them (managed directly by them as the client facing Project Manager or managed by a Project Manager to which they report to on large more complex projects) through stages of the project management life cycle including safely and profitably delivering and closing out projects in accordance with Service Stream’s project management systems.
The Project Engineer consults and coordinates with other key personal in the efficient management of resources and mitigation of risks to drive positive project outcomes.
The Project Engineer is Responsible and Accountable for the below requirements associated with both their role and the direct reports that are aligned as Direct Reports to their position.
- Conduct and/or involved in Tender Handover meeting.
- Review Contract Project Documentation.
- Develop the Project Management Plan including the project control metrics for monitoring safety, time, cost, and quality progress.
- Establish project team and organize their activities prior to project commencement.
- Carry out all Project Pre-Commencement requirements (as required by the client, Service Stream’s own procedures and/or relevant authorities).
- Establish Project Budgets, insuring they align with the Tendered Project Values. This may be limited to work packages on larger projects where the PE report to a Project Manager.
- Managing / monitoring project progress / performance against safety, time, cost, and quality targets and adjusting to achieve successful outcomes including monthly forecasting of time and cost outcomes at project completion.
- Project reporting (Internal and client) including but not limited to safety, financial (including cash and debtors), risk, delivery, and relationship.
- Develop / confirm the Construction Program for all projects within the relevant PE Team
About You
- Mechanical / Civil Engineering Degree or equivalent
- Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local building codes and safety laws.
- Advanced math skills and the ability to understand "abstract" principles behind math and physics.
- Financial management experience (with oversight)
- Ability to deal diligently, patiently, and professionally with internal stakeholders, clients, sub-contractors, and suppliers.
- Self-starter, able to determine own priorities and manage work accordingly.
- Analytical with ability to identify and suggest areas for process improvement and drive efficiency.
- 4+ years’ experience within the Infrastructure Construction industry or similar industry experience.
- Previous industry experience within utilities, water and/or gas / power.
- Specialist experience in provision of Mechanical services discipline
