About the role
The Project Engineer performs engineering and electrical design aspects of projects, including carrying out site investigation, audit, project scope definitions, scheduling and technical inputs to concept and detailed design. Participates in design review throughout the project lifecycle.
In this role you will also assist stakeholders and partners in defining their requirements for Instrumentation, Monitoring & Control technology and ensure that these requirements are accurately reflected in the installed technology, therefore it is essential that you provide input into processes and systems improvements to support and improve operational performance, business efficiency, risk management, staff work environment, and user experience. Other responsibilities will also include:
- Participate in development of Instrumentation, Monitoring & Control strategy and standards and support underlying technology.
- Provide Instrumentation, Monitoring & Control expertise to delivery partners to resolve any emerging issues.
- Ensure Instrumentation, Monitoring & Control project deliverables are provided in accordance with business quality management system and compliant with standards and specifications.
- Hands on participation in Instrumentation, Monitoring & Control project delivery lifecycle (workshops, Functional Design Specifications, reviews, acceptance audits)
- Reporting, scheduling and co-ordinating resources and activities for SCADA Projects

About you
As a Project Engineer you will be required to demonstrate the ability and experience in translating complex client requirements into Instrumentation, Monitoring & Control technical engineering solutions, developing initial option and concept reports and providing technical/commercial information for business cases, it is also important that you have the following:
- Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering or equivalent with demonstrated experience in project management.
- Thorough knowledge and proven experience in Instrumentation, Monitoring & Control systems and their application in water and wastewater assets relating to Sydney Water’s provision of total service to customers.
- Demonstrated practical experience in the evaluation, installation & maintenance of Instrumentation, Monitoring & Control technologies and diagnostic software tools.
- Demonstrated ability to review and interpret electrical schematics and switchboard general arrangement drawings throughout design, construction and operational environments related to control and telemetry systems.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain effective relationships between the Project Team, Customers, Product Delivery Partners and Service Providers.
