About the Project
The Project involves the transition from an open pit mine to an underground mine, whereby ore will be mined from underground ore bodies using sub level cave mining techniques.
The Jwaneng diamond mine is currently an open pit mine located in south-central Botswana about 120 kilometers (75mi) west of Gaborone, in the Naledi river valley of the Kalahari. Jwaneng Mine is owned by Debswana, a partnership between the De Beers company and the government of Botswana.
We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer for our Underground Project in Botswana. We are seeking people that are passionate about sharing their skills and knowledge of Australian Mining methods and processes to transfer to the Batswana workforce as part of an Integrated Operating Team with the Mine Owner.
Key Requirements
- Tertiary qualification in Engineering (Mining or Civil)
- Previous experience as a Mining Engineer, preferably underground
- Ability to develop and build client and contractor relationships
- Sound knowledge of underground development and production in mining fields
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate at all levels
- Ability and willingness to transfer/mentor their skills & knowledge to African personnel
- All valid and relevant qualifications, certificates and licences
- Adherence to all company safety standards, policies and procedures
- A valid Manual Driver's Licence
- A valid National and Federal Police Clearance (within 3 months)
