AWCON is a privately-owned Australian civil construction company which has continued to expand since its establishment in 2013.
AWCON provides services in the civil and mining sectors and specialise in infrastructure, concrete construction, and mining services and have been involved in projects of all types and scale throughout Australia, Papua New Guinea, and Mongolia.
We are currently seeking a Project Engineer for a civil infrastructure project in South Australia for an immediate start. This is a fixed term FIFO role working a 2 and 1 roster. We would also consider a Graduate Engineer position for the right candidate.
Reporting to the Project Manager you will be responsible for your assigned areas costs, daily and weekly project analysis, quality assurance, weekly reporting and assistance with operational performance. You will assist the Project Manager in developing and delivering successful projects while maintaining strong customer relationships and contribute to the successful growth of the AWCON business.
As a Project Engineer you will:
- Be involved in implementing or creating innovative, cost efficient construction methodologies and techniques.
- Produce construction programs for the project together with Supervisors and Site Manager.
- Continuous monitoring of program throughout the life of the project ensuring milestones are completed on time.
- In conjunction with Site Manager and Supervisors, planning the resources required to achieve the construction program (plant, labour and subcontractors) and sourcing.
- Planning and implementing the procurement of materials and subcontractors to achieve construction programs.
- Working with Supervisors to recognise variations, quantity increases or decrease and any additional scope of works to produce appropriate variation correspondence.
- Monitoring day costs for activities and adjusting if unit costs are excessive.
- Preparation and analysis of end of month project costs report with Project Manager.
- Monitor environmental controls where the risk to the environment is serious enough to require monitoring.
Successful candidates will possess the following:
- Civil Engineering degree
- Be able to work as part of a team that is driven by success
- Excellent analytical, communication and interpersonal skills
- Sound technical knowledge
- Be self motivated and adaptable with a ‘can do’ attitude
- Be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
