Project Manager

Ventia is a leading infrastructure services company, operating across Australia and New Zealand. Our clients are the owners and operators of assets that are critical to our local communities.

In partnership with the Australia Defence Force, we are seeking a Project Manager to support our Retail Services Store contract.

Reporting to the Contract Manager, you will be responsible for providing end to end management of multiple small, large and complex projects and initiatives as determined by the Client.

This is a full-time fixed term role until December 2025 and can be based at either Victoria Barracks in Melbourne or Duntroon Military Base in Canberra, with frequent travel required to other National Defence sites.

From concept through to implementation, you will be responsible for developing projects for submission to client on initiatives and proposals delivering logistic capability transformation and enhancement.

In addition, your duties include:

• Perform to client expectations, maintaining an environment that is outcomes focused and encourages open communication.
• Establish mediums for encouragement of innovations and capability transformation within the contract.
• End to End Management of Capability Transformation proposals and initiatives involving but not limited to:
  • Scope determination and endorsement including prioritisation.
  • Planning and scheduling including milestones.
  • Develop plans for endorsement on directed initiatives and proposals.
  • Assessment of resource requirement and allocation.
• Communication of Proposals and Initiatives including:
  • Development and delivery of communication strategies for proposals and initiatives involving relevant stakeholders.
  • Reporting of Proposal / Initiative status in accordance with an agreed schedule.
  • Organise and attend meetings as required.
  • Draft briefings on Proposals / Initiatives for senior management.
• Initiatives and Proposals to include but not limited to:
  • Field Support capability (mandated).
  • Commodity based rationalisation initiative including combat clothing / adventure training equipment.
  • Explosive Ordnance capabilities / rationalisation.
  • High Security Item profile review.

This role acts as a key liaison between the business and the Defence clients as well as Ventia's stakeholders, therefore you must have outstanding communication skills. In addition, we are looking for:

• Demonstrated Project Management experience and skills in Logistics.
• Demonstrated delivery of effective outcomes.
• Demonstrated experience in collaborative and consultative processes at a professional level.
• Proven experience in stakeholder management, negotiation skills and relationship building.
• An ability to work flexibly, productively, autonomously and adaptively in a complex environment with multiple stakeholders and competing timeframes.
• Demonstrated written communication and IT skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities simultaneously.
• Defence experience or knowledge with MILIS experience highly desirable.
