About the role:
The official launch of the ‘Transforming Outpatient Services Strategy 2022-2026’ was in November 2022, with funding allocated for a 4-year period to transform outpatient services in Tasmania. The Outpatient Transformation Program Team are leading and co-ordinating improvements that will change the way outpatient services have been working. The transformation includes state-wide centralisation of business processes and changes to local outpatient governance and operating models with the introduction of a practice management model in the acute hospitals, commencing with the Launceston General Hospital and Royal Hobart Hospital.
It is anticipated that the change will have a positive service impact as this new functional model will be designed to:
- Provide an improved outpatient experience at all points of contact with their outpatient clinic
- Provide more consistent processes that ensure patients receive the right care at the right time, by the right person.
- Improve operational efficiencies, including scheduling, billing and waitlist management
- Reduce clinical risk by completing administrative tasks within required timeframes
- Implement a model that has a focus on data compliance and monitoring
Requirements:
Project Manager - 1.0FTE x 60 days. Reports directly to Hospitals North Executive Director Performance & Operations and indirectly to Nursing Director State-wide Outpatient Services.
Implementation of the LGH Practice Management model will require a dedicated Project Manager to ensure the model is implemented in a timely and efficient manner and that all identified risks and issues can be mitigated with a structured approach within a project management framework and governance.
The activities undertaken in this role will include (but is not limited to) the following project tasks:
- Establishment of project governance for model implementation
- Develop project plan for model implementation.
- Internal and external stakeholder engagement
- Review of current business processes
- Mapping and documentation of new processes
- Recruitment of Practice Manager
- Environmental changes for workplaces to accommodate all outpatient staff.
- Consumer engagement
- Communication strategy - Proposed Practice Management Model
The Project Manager also will be responsible for supervising and providing direction to a Project Officer.
