Project Manager - Military Communications - Sustainment
Primary role purpose: The Project Manager - Communications Sustainment is responsible for the transition of Comms infrastructure through to a Sustainment status. The Project Manager will be responsible for a small multi-disciplinary team of engineers, logisticians and administration staff to rapidly and efficiently complete a large number of tasks and documentation to adequately sustain a vital communications facility. The individual will have excellent knowledge of the Australian Defence environment, ASDEFCON Support Contracts, and have commensurate experience in delivering Defence Projects. The successful candidate will also have financial and reporting responsibilities across the Project and will be reporting to senior company and Defence customer leadership on a regular basis. The successful applicant will be required to engage proactively with company leadership, both within Australia and at other worldwide locations, with the Defence Project Office and key stakeholders, a growing list of Sub-contractors, and the wider team. The individual will help develop and maintain the relationship with the Australia Defence customer and drive business growth in this newly emerging sustainment sector for the company. The Project Manager - Sustainment will also be required to undertake Project time and resource scheduling and measure team performance against those schedules. The role will also be responsible for identifying opportunities for continual improvement and identifying opportunities for future growth for this program. Assistance in resultant bids and proposals will also be a role for this new and exciting position.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Management of Communications - ASDEFCON
Financial management and budgeting for the Project
Safety and risk management for the Project
Development and maintenance of Project schedules
Reporting, specifically with financial, schedule and resourcing to customer and company leadership
Supplier and sub-contractor relationship management
Customer relationship management
Team management
Communications with key stakeholders
Participation in Contract negotiations
Essential Knowledge and Skills:
5 - 10 years' experience in Project Management
Project Management qualification
Outstanding track record of success delivering projects within the Defence and Government
Knowledge and experience of ASDEFON
Demonstrable ability to build trusting relationships
Possess strong knowledge of diversified communications
Outstanding Presentation Skills and inter-personal skills
Ability to travel regularly regionally and internationally
Active Australian Government security clearance (NV1)
Demonstrated ability to adapt and change
Excellent written and oral presentation skills
Demonstrated negotiation skills
Desirable Knowledge and Skills:
AIPM or equivalent accreditation
Understanding of Military Communications
Experience in preparing bids and proposals to Government customers
